He was the only starter who got us a win in Arizona. He’s been the only starter to give us a decent shot of winning, period. He’s….Evo. Which sounds like a cartoon character but is the the nickname of the Yankees best pitcher out of the rotation right now. Knock me over with a feather.
The Yankees’ visit to the Diamondbacks didn’t sound fun – I didn’t stay up for any of the games – and one win every now and then will not get us out of the basement. But at least the bullpen, give or take a homer from Betances or Miller, is lights out.
Hal was interviewed in the NYT for an article that ran this morning in which he preached patience for the team. I tweeted, “Patience? What’s that?” Yankee fans aren’t known for patience and I’m guilty as charged. Hal also singled out Pineda, Tex, Headley and a few others as “under-performing.” He’s right. They are. But what’s to be done about it? Not much. Hal went on to say he’s happy with Joe, Cash, the whole crew. So there we are.
Now we move on to Oakland. Will it be more of the same? A win here and there but mostly losses? I hope not. I really do. I’d hate for this team to sink into irrelevancy.
