Sweet!

June 25, 2011

Can’t ask for more from today’s win at the Stadium. The Yankees punished the purple-helmet-wearing Rockies every which way – from a super performance by CC to a combo of situational hitting and power.

How excellent that CC is the first pitcher in the majors with 10 wins. And very quietly A-Rod has accumulated 50 RBIs. Not too shabby for either of them.

My only question is this: WHY DID JOE TAKE CC OUT AFTER THE 8TH?

He was just over 100 pitches and dominating. Did we really need Buddy Carlyle to remind us what mediocrity looks like? Did we really need to watch Mo having to start throwing in an inning that began with an 8-1 lead? Silly.

And A-Rod….He’s admitted that his shoulder is banged up, but he wasn’t running well. I really hope we’re not talking about something that could put him on the DL – not with all those RBIs.

This Game Smelled

May 12, 2011

You know how you look forward to watching the Yankees? You turn on the TV or radio, settle into your chair, get comfy, and prepare to be entertained? Maybe even stand up and cheer at some point?

That’s how I approach each game, and it’s downright disappointing when the experience isn’t what I’d hoped. Like last night. Like tonight. Like too many nights lately.

Nova was a bomb (and I don’t mean that in a good way, as in “the bomb”). The defense was sloppy. And former Angel Sean O’Sullivan made our offense look anemic once again, except for the fifth inning.

Losing a series to the Royals at home is just….unacceptable.

Amaury Sanit (love that name) was great until he ran out of gas and started hitting batters, but Buddy Carlyle….Well, I made my point about him in last night’s post.

Suffice it to say, I’d like the real Yankees to show up – all of them.

How mortifying will it be if we play like this against the Red Sox this weekend? I don’t want to have to watch like this.

Bunting: How Hard Could It Be?

May 11, 2011

That’s right. Even a Little Leaguer can do it. The Yankees, on the other hand, seem to view the play as the equivalent of brain surgery. Harder than brain surgery.

Yes, I’m mad about tonight’s loss to the Royals.

A.J. pitched great and what did our offense do about it? Nothing. What’s more, I’m tired of Dave Robertson’s new tendency to walk batters. (Never mind how much I praised him last night. A girl can change her mind.) I don’t want to see Buddy Carlyle anymore – not unless he shows up at my local supermarket or drug store or gas station, in which case I’ll be very cordial to him. And I’m not in the mood for the way Brett Gardner either doesn’t steal or gets caught stealing. Oh, and I’d appreciate it if A-Rod would stop being in a slump, just for kicks.

But what REALLY got my blood pressure up was watching Adcock hit Cano in the helmet with that pitch. Thankfully, the CT scan was negative but still. Grrrrrr.

Oh, and now there’s a NY Times story about Colon and his possible HGH use? Well, he’s not being accused of anything but his doctor is. Same thing and MLB is investigating.

I’m going to bed.
