That look is the same look that’s on my face right now. Not to be too greedy about it, but the Yankees had a chance for a four-game sweep of the Angels last night. Tanaka couldn’t hold the lead, giving up homers and walking guys, but the day before Sanchez came off the IL only to strike out a bazillion times and commit an error. Last night he was 0-3 with a walk and was charged with a passed ball.
I know, he’s probably rusty having just come back from an injury. But he was a defensive liability even when healthy. Just not my favorite player, what can I say.
Still, the Yankees did a great job beating the Angels with guys like Wade and Tauchman and Urshela. And now they’ve signed Curtis Maybin, who’s way past his prime, but could be reenergized in pinstripes and be a help in the depleted outfield.
Right now, the best thing the Yanks can do is tread water until Stanton and Judge come back, which won’t be anytime soon, sadly.
Hey Jane. Maybe you should continue writing blog posts “scolding” our players when they struggle. Sanchez must’ve heard you and blasted his first career grand slam yesterday that was a major contributor for the win! He was hitting well before he hit the IL so hopefully he can now continue where he left off. The backups continue to surprise me with their stellar play and helping us tread water. Urshela in particular stands out to me. He has always been a great glove but he’s been giving us good ABs lately. Cessa yesterday didn’t make getting the win easy though. Now we just need you to make a post for Torres. Poor guy has been struggling mightily and we need him to do better when the backups come crashing down to Earth eventually.
I laughed when I read about Sanchez’s grand slam, Leo. I just knew it was because I “yelled” at him. Lol. I’m glad if it means he’s gotten his swing back. Now he needs to cut down on the errors. The “B” team, or maybe I should say the “C” team, has been great out west, with the starting pitching especially stellar. I’m so impressed with Paxton these days.
