A New Winning Streak Started Tonight

April 19, 2017

Last night’s loss to the White Sox was disappointing, especially after the Yankees mounted a challenge against old friend Dave Robertson in the ninth and especially after the seven previous wins in a row made it feel as if we’d never lose. But tonight was another notch in the win column, and, I hope, it will lead to another streak.

There were homers aplenty: Judge, Hicks, Castro, Headley. There was more good starting pitching: Tanaka. And there was more good relief work: Mitchell, Layne. I’m encouraged.

After tomorrow’s off day, it’s on to Pittsburgh. I have to say I’m not and never have been wild about inter-league series and certainly not this early in the season. But the schedule is what it is. The first series against the Red Sox is just around the corner, so there’s that to look forward to (or dread).

The Boys took eight out of nine at home – Stupendous! This might be the year to visit Yankee Stadium on a regular basis.

I texted my kids the Yankees were hitting so many homers and scoring so many runs it was getting boring – J/K!! I could watch games like last night’s day after day after day and the thrill would still be there.

I’m glad you wrote J/K, Audrey, because I was reading about the homers and scoring being boring and I thought….she can’t mean that! I love those kinds of games, as you know. I do not love pitcher’s duels. The more runs the better!

I’m stating the obvious: It’s been great watching the Yankees win!

Obvious but true, Freya. It’s way more fun when they win.

So the Yankees lost one game on that home stand, and that’s the one I was at! Oh well. It’s been fun watching them win on TV. (It’s warmer at home too). I explored some of the new areas in Yankee Stadium. The standing room area in center field is pretty cool. They’ve added lots more places to buy booze (as opposed to just beer). They are no longer doing the subway race between innings. :( But it was great to be back there, cold and losing though it was. I am looking forward to going back when it is warmer?

Is this team for real??? Can the pitching hold up for the whole season? Will we keep kitting bombs? 2017 is way more exciting then I dared hope!

No subway race?!!! Lol, Darren. Do they still do WMCA while the ground’s crew is cleaning the infield? Sorry you didn’t see a win, but it sounds like a fun trip to the Stadium anyway. Is this team for real? Too early to say, but I do think they’re exciting to watch. There’s a real energy and desire to prove themselves, I think.

(Sorry it took awhile for me to reply. I didn’t get an email notification of your comment for some reason. Typical web site glitch, I guess.)
