Not Sleepless in Seattle

August 24, 2016

Sanchez dugout

Yes, he did it again. Gary Sanchez hit yet another homer today and has become a legend very quickly. He and Tanaka were the stars of the Yankees’ victorious finale in Seattle as they won the series against the Mariners. Yay.

CC was great in last night’s game. Ellsbury is hitting. The only negative was Friday night when Pineda started and things got ugly. I do wish he had figured out how to be more consistent this year, but I find myself wincing whenever I see he’ll be on the mound for us.

Do any of the weekend’s heroics mean the Yankees will secure a wild card spot? Unlikely but possible. There’s time. They just need the teams in front of them to slack off while they keep winning themselves. A little luck wouldn’t hurt either.

I thought I’d feel sad seeing Cano in his Mariners’ uniform as I usually do, but strangely I didn’t. I’m perfectly fine with Castro at second, and while I loved having Cano as a Yankee, I realize his contract would have put us in the same bind we faced with our other aging, high-priced guys. So it’s all good.

I admit I enjoyed Cano’s time with The Yankees except when he didn’t run out ground balls. There were several times that he would have been safe had he just moved along. Its tough when they’re out on the west coast, but I watch the games early the next morning and ONLY if they win so its all positive. Nervous to face The Orioles. Let’s hope the team feels confident. GO YANKEES!!!

If Gary Sanchez continues to hit like Babe Ruth, we have nothing to fear from the Orioles, Diane!
