Uh-Oh. Where Are The Bats?

April 2, 2014

It’s always sort of spooky when the season starts with losses. No, two in a row isn’t a trip to the Twilight Zone, but it’s weird that we have all these big stars and they look anemic at the plate. Soriano, in particular, seems to have a hole in his bat.

On a positive note, Kuroda stuck around way longer than I expected and the boys showed some speed on the bases. And Jeter got a nice tip of the cap from the Astros before the game. Supposedly he had dinner with Clemens the previous night, and I can’t figure out why he’d want that guy in his life, let alone have him for a buddy. Yuck.

That definitely wasn’t pretty – I know its very, very, very early in the season for us to worry, but the bats really do need to wake up. I’m not sure what’s wrong or what they can do to fix it but it has to happen pretty fast. Its a long season but these guys have to have confidence in themselves, especially when they’re at away games, and to build that confidence, they have to win. GO YANKEES!!!

They’ll come around, Diane. They always do. And it’s going to take time for this new team to gel with all the new cast members.

Hi Jane & Fellow Baseball Fans…

Well…on the positive side …they started out 0-3 in 1998 and wound up winning 114 regular season games… :). I don’t expect them to win 114 games but it is only 2 games (despite it’s against the ‘Stros) and as Jane said … plenty of new players so it takes time to get that chemistry going. I like the new players and I think they are all team guys so it will come around. I’m just hoping it comes around fast because this weekend starts games against the AL East ..Blue Jays, Orioles and Red Sox.

    Go Yankees 2014!!

Yes, it would be nice to go into these series against our real division rivals on a high, Peggy. Hoping for a win tonight.

…and your wishes came true – even though it was a very low scoring game for both teams, we did what we had to do. And we apparently DO have a closer. Whew! Okay, now, on to Toronto – we have a long run against most of our AL East rivals…hope we do well. Tanaka starts tonight – should be exciting. GO YANKEES!!!
