No Winter Meetings Deals But There's This

December 12, 2013

cano as mariner

The Mariners unveiled their new promo starring their prize second baseman – and he’s got something he didn’t have as a Yankee: facial hair. Makes me sad.

The fact that Joba is now a Tiger doesn’t; I’m glad for him and hope he does well there, just not against us.

Otherwise, no news in Yankeeville as Cashman heads home after Orlando………

Cano apparently had some things to say about The Yankees not really trying to re-sign him but I guess its probably just to get his new fans on his side quickly. Fans of other teams mostly hate The Yankees (jealous) so its a likely way to bring them in. I’m glad they didn’t trade Gardner in the first chance to do so with The Reds – it was for a second baseman, which we obviously need, but he wasn’t worth losing Gardner.

I was really turned off by Cano’s comments, Diane. He felt he wasn’t respected? He didn’t like batting second? Blah blah. What a baby. It’s perfectly acceptable and expected for a player to go to a new team and praise that team’s fan base, but to diss your last team? Not cool.

Hi Jane & Fellow Baseball Fans…

Is it just me or does Cano look bigger in that Seattle jersey instead of the slimming pinstripes .. :). I wish someone would disrespect me with a $175 million offer. I can’t blame him for going for the $240 million though I know I wouldn’t have turned down an extra $65 million either. If it was in the $1 to 5 mil range I would expect him to stay with the Yanks but $65 mil is a BIG difference. Anyway, hoping the Yankees come up with a few more presents for the fans before Christmas …

    Happy Holidays Everyone !!!!

    Go Yankees 2014 !!!

I agree and don’t blame Cano at all for taking the biggest paycheck, Peggy. My beef with him is whining after the fact. And his child support case doesn’t endear him at the moment. Let’s hope for those additional Christmas presents. Happy Holidays to you too.

I’m with you on the whining Jane…the Yankees don’t respect me, I batted 2nd …wah, wah, wah. Leave a team with class especially since he did get his big payday that he wanted. I see Pete Rose was taking jabs at him too saying what a great agent Jay-Z was for also getting him that additional month vacation every October …LOL. As for the child support I’m not even going there. I read that he set them up with a house, car and money put away for education as well as child support. I have read comments from her which she seems to feel entitled too because she had his baby. I don’t know if we have all the facts or just what the papers can sensationalize. That’s his personal business …I’ll stick with his baseball business.

    I’m sooooooooo happy it’s Friday … :)

    go Yankees 2014!!
