Deflated

August 31, 2012

I really hoped the Yankees would pull themselves out of the doldrums in the opener against the O’s tonight. Obviously. But instead of seeing a team that was revved up and ready to do battle, I saw one that went down to defeat in a surprisingly and disturbingly wimpy way. I mean, watching Swisher flail at the ball all night was painful. And he had plenty of company in the flailing department. Kuroda wasn’t perfect, but he must wonder what he has to do to get his guys to score runs for him. And Derek Lowe. Sigh. He might as well be Sergio Mitre at this point.

I never thought the Yanks would maintain, let alone, pad their 10-game lead, but to lose so many games and have that lead dwindle to two? Yes, it feels like the air’s gone out of the balloon.

Still, there’s a month of baseball left to play and they can get hot again, particularly with A-Rod and Tex back in the lineup and Pettitte on the mound. In the meantime, it wouldn’t hurt if Girardi sat everybody down in a room and yelled at them until the veins in his neck popped out.

it’s just sad that there is very little positive to discuss as of late. and to be surrounded by Natitude and the hysteria of a winning team….i want my team to be winning, too! yes, i’m whining.

Hi Jane & Fellow Baseball Fans…

YAY !!! They won !!! I was at the game. It wasn’t the best win but a win is a win and I’ll take it. How about NUNEEEEEEEEEEE. Best part …he didn’t make an error because he was the DH …haha. On the way home in the car I was listening to the wrap up and dare I say …Girardi referred to Pearce as …PEARCEY …LOL. So now I’m going to get GREEDY and say I want a 9 game winning streak against Tampa and Baltimore. I’ll be at the game in Baltimore next Saturday and they better win because I hate making the long trip for a loss. Actually, I’ll be there for the whole weekend doing some touring of Washington, D.C. so at least it won’t be a long drive back in one day and I won’t be able to stew on the loss the whole ride back. One thing in the Yanks favor….I’m going with my cousin David, the lucky Met fan …so…hopefully, it means a win .. :o). I want more space between us and those pesky Orioles and Rays…

I hope everyone is enjoying the holiday weekend …

    Go Yankees 2012 !!!

    P.S. Hi Ruth …hope all is well … :o)

No wonder they won, Peggy. You were there as our good luck charm. Pearcey? LOL. Girardi is too much. I like your idea about the winning streak, but I’ll take them one at a time. I do hope you work your magic (with your cousin) in Baltimore. Have a pulled pork sandwich at Boog’s BBQ for me.
