Big Wins For Mr. Sweater Vest, Ironically

February 7, 2012

On the day when my state of California overturned the ban on gay marriage, the biggest social conservative in the GOP race had some wins.

It all goes to show how divided this country is on social issues (as well as on everything else). Santorum was the “Terri Schiavo candidate” once upon a time, so at least he’s not a flip flopper. He’s always maintained his right-leaning positions.

Still, I can’t help scratching my head. Rick Santorum? Seriously?

I assume Romney will get the nomination, but maybe the Rickster will earn himself a shot at the VP job.

I go in and out of following this semi-closely. I don’t understand how a candidate that has been hardly registering votes, along with Ron Paul, suddenly sweeps three states. And from what I’ve watched the past couple days, it was expected, or anticipated that he could pull this (these?) upsets….did ‘polling’ predict that accurately? I don’t get it. But, like when you’re rooting for the other league’s Championship Series to go 7 games, so your eventual opponent will be worn out by the time they get to the World Series, I hope these primaries are drawn out as long as possible, so the eventual nominee will be exhausted by the time he has to face Barack. I just hope the Catholic Church doesn’t crush Barack in the next few weeks/months….on the other hand, I hope he doesn’t cave under their pressure!

I love to follow politics, Ruth, so I’ve been glued to the TV for the debates as well as the election returns in the different states. What boggles the mind is how it looks like one of them has the momentum one minute and then another one steals it. It’s really turning out to be a regional contest so far. In Santorum’s case, he’s the one who spent time in those three states, working the crowds, while the other front-runners didn’t (except Romney in Colorado, I guess.) I agree that it would be fun to see the primaries drawn out as long as possible, but remember Obama and Hillary went the distance and it didn’t damage either one of them. We shall see!

    …tee hee.
I may just move to Canada.
I don’t enjoy this like you do.
Yet I can’t not pay attention but I want to be apathetic.
And living here makes it worse to me.

Yeah, living in the D.C. area must make it impossible to ignore, Peg. But you have to admit it’s the best reality show on TV right now.
