Sweet!

Can’t ask for more from today’s win at the Stadium. The Yankees punished the purple-helmet-wearing Rockies every which way – from a super performance by CC to a combo of situational hitting and power.

How excellent that CC is the first pitcher in the majors with 10 wins. And very quietly A-Rod has accumulated 50 RBIs. Not too shabby for either of them.

My only question is this: WHY DID JOE TAKE CC OUT AFTER THE 8TH?

He was just over 100 pitches and dominating. Did we really need Buddy Carlyle to remind us what mediocrity looks like? Did we really need to watch Mo having to start throwing in an inning that began with an 8-1 lead? Silly.

And A-Rod….He’s admitted that his shoulder is banged up, but he wasn’t running well. I really hope we’re not talking about something that could put him on the DL – not with all those RBIs.

that’s one hell of a chunk of chocolate that young lady in the picture is munching on. I completely spaced out the game played this afternoon by assuming it would be a night game. Oh well, probably wasn’t available in my market anyway. Nice to read and hear about it, though, unlike the litany of injuries that continues to grow. Sounds like the Red Sox last year. Very early on to be this banged up as a team, but these are the travails of carrying an older lineup. We just need to keep finding ways to win in spite of it all.

    Way to go CC

Sorry you missed this one, NYL. It was a fun game to watch. Turns out A-Rod has a sore knee, but I’m glad it’s not serious enough for him to miss playing time. We may be seeing more of Pena at third though. CC was great. And Posada seems to be coming around. As for the chocolate, I wish I had that chunk right now. Yum.

I am okay with CC coming out of the game, but I am glad the Yankees had 8 runs on the board when Joe pulled him. I was surprised to hear the stat that CC is the first Yankees pitcher to reach 10 wins faster than any other AL pitcher during a season since Tommy John. I’d be okay with 22 wins from CC this year! I am concerned about A-Rod. Given how conservative the Yanks are with injuries, the public reporting of his health can’t be good. With Nunez at short and Chavez still on the DL, the Yanks need to find a quality 3B to back up A-Rod. Oh yeah, add that to the list behind a frontline starting pitcher and relief help. On the bright side, the Yanks are in first place all by themselves! Life is good…

I don’t think the Yankees had a choice about letting the media know about A-Rod’s injury, Scott. He’s not Jeter. He seems to be more comfortable talking about his ailments. And it was obvious watching him run that something was wrong. If he needs a day or two off, Pena should be able to hold down the fort. I agree that Chavez would be better, but I’d much rather see us get help for the pen. And yes, very cool that we’re in first. How about those amazing Pirates.

As I do my pre game workout preparing to leave for Old Timers Game, it is a great feeling knowing, at least for now, the planets are back in alignment. The Yanks are back in first place! Looking forward to a great day.

Good omen last night, we were behind a car with lic. plate that read NY.YANX. Our car has YANK.FN. (we can only get 6 letters or numbers in Ct.) You could get SHE.FAN in Ct Jane!

Well, talk about good luck. I heard the first couple of innings on the radio, but then we arrived at our destination and it was family time from then on. My husband’s parent’s house is too small to hold everyone so my familly booked a room at the local Holiday Inn Express. After finding ESPN but missing the Yankee score on the bottom line it occured to me that they probably had YES Network. A couple of channels later, there it was, in the third inning of the encore game! So fun! I got to watch an hour before I turned the television over to my husband for his Saturday night Scyfi fix. Misssed the ending, which is probably a good thing. At the point I went to sleep the Yanks were up 6-0 so I slept well.

You’re going to have a great time today, John. Just make sure the festivities, as exciting as they will be, don’t get the Yankees off their focus, which is to win the game and the series! It’s in your hands! LOL on the license plate.

Very good luck, Audrey – and good timing. How clever of you to choose a place that had YES and to turn on the TV just when the encore game was on. Your husband watches Sci Fi on Saturday nights? We need to convert him to baseball, clearly.

Ugh… Along with the ‘no facial hair’ Yankee rule, there should be this one too : No more pitchers named ‘Buddy’ on our team…

LOL. We’ll never know why Joe took CC out, Jane.

Joe needs to get a twitter, so we can ask important questions like this one :)

Can you imagine if Joe had a twitter account, Antonella? OMG, we’d be bombarding him with questions.
