Calling All Budding Authors/Yankee Fans

Wednesday, January 9th, 2013

With nothing much going on in Yankeeville these days other than A-Rod’s upcoming surgery and Cashman’s lack of interest in making a deal, I wanted to pass along news of an anthology of Yankees-themed short stories that will be going into a new book co-produced by Ray Negron, the author of Yankee Miracles, to support the relief efforts following Super Storm Sandy.

Here’s the info:

SUBMISSIONS BEING ACCEPTED. Charie D La Marr (aka Persiphone Hellecat) is joining with Ray Negron, best selling author of the recent “Yankee Miracles,” to produce an anthology of short stories called “The Power of Pinstripes” to benefit local Hurricane Sandy relief efforts. All stories should be fiction or memoirs that in some way involve the New York Yankees and Yankee Stadium. Let your imagination run wild. The stories can be in any genre from fantasy to mystery and anything in between as long as the Yankees and the Stadium are involved and the story is geared to an adult audience. For memoirs, you must have consent from any living people you name in the story (other than public figures). The memoirs should have some sort of a message or meaning and an ending to them. Tell us how visiting Yankee Stadium affected your life. Has being a Yankee fan in some way impacted your life? A special game? Meeting a player? Submissions should be no more than 7,500 words with most ranging in the 5,000 word vicinity. The book is expected to be a combination of stories written by fans, players past and present, people from the world of baseball and beat reporters from local newspapers. We hope to have some very special surprise authors! All stories should be sent to charie.lamarr@gmail.com with YANKEE STORY in caps as the subject line. Do not send as an attachment. Simply e mail the story in the body of your post. I will not open attachments. Please remember that if accepted, all stories are subject to editing, but I promise all edits will be discussed with you. I am looking forward to reading your stories. Deadline for submissions 2/1/13 FIVE STORIES ALREADY ACCEPTED – WHAT IS YOUR YANKEE STORY?

Are any of you interested in becoming an author? Now’s your chance.
