“Jacoby Jacks One!”

Except that John Sterling’s home run call in the first inning was null and void after the ump sent Ellsbury back to third for a triple, due to fan interference. Either way, he ended up scoring and having a terrific game in his first visit back to Fenway. What a player he is.

Tanaka only had one really shaky inning giving up back-to-backers by Ortiz and Napoli, so I’d rate his first visit to Fenway as a rousing success too.

John Lester clearly didn’t have it tonight. But since it’s rare that we’re treated to a hit parade against him, I’ll take it. Loved seeing Roberts with some offense, along with Jeter, Beltran, etc. It wasn’t a Janer but close to it.

Also loved the defense by Solarte. This team doesn’t resemble the one that took such a beating at the Trop. At least they didn’t tonight.

Good for Jacoby! I read his interview about coming back to Boston and he is a class act. He definitely fits with the Yankee organization and has brought a lot of life to the team. I was thrilled when we signed him, if for no other reason than that would be 18 games when he was playing and wreaking havoc against us. That he is such a fire starter is a bonus.

Ironically, as the West Coast comes to Yankee Stadium, we are heading to the West Coast. Our youngest is being graduated from Pepperdine University on Saturday and then we are driving up the coast to Monterrey and San Francisco, taking in some parks along the way. Jane, would you recommend visiting the Channel Islands?

One of the most relaxing Yankees games at Fenway. This offense could be fun. Nice to see players who can handle the pressure like Ellsberg. It’s still weird to root for him

I just LOVE it when they score before The Sox even come to the plate. It was a very enjoyable game to watch – but I think they sent Ellsbury back to second, not third. It should have been a triple but I’m pretty sure they called it a double. Anyway, he did score and all in all the team looked great. Hope we get 2 more W’s while we’re in Boston. GO YANKEES!!!

Exciting about the graduation at Pepperdine, Audrey. Such a beautiful school and setting. I’ve never been to the Channel Islands (I can see them out my window on a clear day), but I’ve heard they’re a nature lover’s dream. The seas have been rough lately – check the weather when you come – with high winds. You may not want to be on the ocean in a boat!

Thanks for that, Jane, good to know.
