Shelled

My heart sank when the Dead Arm version of Kuroda showed up again. Being down so many runs early is such a bummer. I’m sure it can’t be easy for the players either, even though they always believe they can come back.

I was worried about this game as soon as I heard the Yankees were facing a pitcher they hadn’t seen before – rarely a good thing. The pattern continued as the batters looked helpless tonight. Swing and miss. Swing and miss. Ugly.

Yes, Mark Reynolds, our new Mr. I’ll-Play-Any-Position, had a nice game, but without Cano in the lineup, Nunez too, an already punch-less group became even more punch-less.

I’m sad right now. Girardi keeps saying, “We just have to win games,” but the statement is sounding hollow. We dropped the series to the Blue Jays and we can’t get it back.

Sorry to be such a Debbie Downer. We still have a month left of Yankees baseball, win or lose, and that’s something to celebrate.

Its hard to stay positive after a game like that, Jane. There was nothing positive to take from it other than Reynolds…the pitching, the hitting, the defense…all bad. Its tough to keeping getting up (after a win) and down (after a loss) but that’s what it is to be a 2013 Yankees fan. Hopefully it all goes well or at least that 2014 is a much better season. But truly, this being Mariano’s final season, they have to do all that they can to make it to the post season for him. GO YANKEES!!!

It’s true about doing it for Mo, Diane. That would be wonderful to see him in the postseason one last time. But at this point, we just have to savor each game he comes in to save.

Yes, “Debbie D,” your analysis is right on target, as usual. No need to apologize, ever.

Nice to see The Captain back on the nitely hi-lite reel, at least, for his fine play in the 1st inning. Of course, it WAS just the 1st inning. Rather see Kuroda in an 8th inning hi-lite, or Mo, but…’

Last week’s 4-game sweep was too good to be true. Sadly, things do even out. You’re so right about savoring every day, too. Looks like a long cold lonely postseason, featuring Who Are They vs. I Don’t Care. But it’s alright…
