An Actual Janer!

August 13th, 2013 by Jane Heller

LaughingWomanAre the Angels the new Twins? All I know is I wish the Yankees could face their pitching every day of the week, because the offense exploded tonight and it doesn’t happen very often. It was especially satisfying to see Soriano give us the homers he was brought to the team to deliver. Nunez, too, had a good night at the plate, although his error-plagued defense continued. CC finally got a win, but what was up with all the walks? At least he wasn’t pounded, I guess. And poor Bettances didn’t make much of a first impression, having to be bailed out by Joba, the mop up guy.

Anyhow, it was fun to have the Yanks scoring all those runs, not to mention win their third game in a row. Is this what is known as a second half streak? I hope so.

How fun was that? Three wins in a row – how long has it been since we’ve had a winning streak going? It seems like the past month has been start and stop in the winning direction. I hope this is the start of a miraculous comeback. The wild card is not that far out of our grasp!

WOW! Looks like the offense has returned! It was certainly fun to watch them hitting last night.

Jane…I was so sure your heading today was going to be “They’re BAAAAAack!” But that was totally a Janer. I was very upset with the defense throughout the game, and the runs The Angels scored in the ninth scared me a bit too, but fortunately, none of it mattered. Every player got at least one hit…when was the last time that happened? C.C. wasn’t perfect but he was good enough. Thank God Hughes wasn’t the starter…the errors and bad plays that were not considered errors would have driven him crazy. C.C. toss to first was a great out and he actually caught one at first as well. Again…when does that ever happen? Let’s hope it continues tonight. GO YANKEES!!!

It really was fun to see the offense pour it on, Audrey, Freya and Diane. Are they back? Is it the start of a miraculous comeback? We’ll see. So much depends on the opposing pitchers. Beating the Tigers was great because they’re in first place in their division, true contenders, but the Angels have been struggling on every level this season so we absolutely should be beating them. The good news is we play them again two more times. If that goes well and we can somehow keep the streak going in Boston, then I’ll be a happy camper.

I wish we could have saved some of those runs for the next time we need them. That was fun!
