While You Were Sleeping….

The Good Hughes showed up in Seattle. That’s basically all you need to know.

He was so good that I fell asleep after the Yankees scored their runs on back-t0-back homers by Cano and Tex early on and it looked like we were in control. I’d wake up, check the score, see that the Mariners still hadn’t scored, and go back to my nap.

I love that the Yankees ended up winning, that Hughes pitched well and that the bullpen did its job in the 8th and 9th. Only Youkilis’ error (the ball went right through his legs) provided any tension. Otherwise, it was all Yankees – a nice way to begin the road trip.

We had a little event to go to last night so we actually got home just about 15 minutes before the game started so I watched most of the game. How did we get so many hits so early???! This was a starting pitcher that The Yankees have never faced before and that’s usually a bad thing. I’m kind of hoping that Hughes-ey can get a couple of more solid outings…so we can trade him! Boston won last night in extra innings so we didn’t gain any ground but let’s hope this is a good road trip and that they come home in first place. GO YANKEES!!!

How did we get so many hits early? Because their starter was awful! It was fun while it lasted and then they were shut down. I think Hughes looked comfortable in that big ballpark, even though he’d been shelled there last time. Yankee Stadium must scare him.
