Nice Way To Close Out The Weekend

May 12th, 2013 by Jane Heller

Today’s finale in KC was efficient, tidy and satisfying. Kuroda was great, as was Mo. Somebody suggested on Twitter that, given the Joba flap (see previous post), Mo’s new entrance music should be “Enter Shushman” instead of “Enter Sandman.”

And Vernon Wells. Are there enough superlatives for him right now? The man has been positively resurrected from the dead.

Tomorrow’s doubleheader in Cleveland should be interesting since the roster’s so thin and Nova isn’t healthy enough to pitch (what’s up with that?). I just hope they get through it in one piece.

I was fortunate enough to get to spend Mother’s Day at Kauffman stadium to see the Yankees win and Mo get another save. It was J1’s first Yankees game and now he can say that he actually saw the greatest closer of all time in person. The ceremony before the game for Mo was so nice. They even played Enter Sandman. He is such a gentleman. I did start crying. That is probably the last time I will see him play in person and it was bittersweet. It was a wonderful day as I was able to spend it with my Pops, husband, and J1. And the Yankees won! Couldn’t have been better. Hope all the she-fans out there had a wonderful Mother’s day as well!

What a great Mother’s Day for sure, DJ. I’m thrilled for you that you and your family got to see the Yankees and Mo in KC yesterday. The win was icing on the cake.

It was beautiful to sweep KC, Jane, but we just dropped the 1st game of the doubleheader to Cleveland by a score of 1 – 0. Wow! I can’t believe we could not manufacture one run. That hurts. Let’s hope we take the 2nd game – then it will be like today never happened. Hope all of these games with no days off doesn’t hurt the team. GO YANKEES!!!
