Do I Have To Post?

September 4th, 2012 by Jane Heller

It’s getting harder and harder to say something perky about the Yankees. Tonight we lost the division lead and didn’t look very entertaining doing it. Girardi got tossed and Freddy got hammered and the offense got taken over by aliens again.

But….instead of dwelling on what happened, I’m going to bring back the laughing lady. Maybe she’ll be our lucky charm and remind us that we shouldn’t take this situation so seriously. Worth a try.

Interesting that you should mention “laughing”. I had to break out Blue Collar Comedy Tour; One For The Road after this game to keep my sprits from dropping too much.

Jeff Foxworthy, Bill Engvall and Ron White will cure what ails ya [not a fan of Larry.]

Jeter had 2 more hits. Too bad the rest of the offense has apparently decided to join Pancho Villa’s army. I think they’re so far south they’ve passed Mexico and are somewhere in Brazil.

I hope we can shake off this malaise. Tomorrow would be a great time to start.

There’s plenty of games left in the season against these divisional foes! We’re going to go take it to them in Baltimore, after we finish a little clean up work tomorrow at the Trop. And then we’ll let the birds and the rays battle it out as we move on to take on the Red Sox and the Twins and the Jays. We still control our own destiny, worry not!

We’ll be getting Tex back soon, and A-Rod will start to heat up. The lineup will make sense once more. Pettitte will be back, as will a rested and healed Nova. We’re on the right track here. The bats will be hot, and the pitchers will be dealing. This is all just to add a little excitement….

I like YankeeCase’s take on this situation. Yes, a little excitement, that’s what we need. All that winning was so boring. Sure, I believe that.

One sweet note I want to share – I was texting back and forth with my son last night. He moved to Virginia about a month ago and is getting cable today, including a sports package with MLB. He hopes his renewed attention to the Yankees will be the spark they need to start winning – I hope so too. But the sweet thing he said was that he had been thinking earlier in the day that Yankee Stadium is one of his favorite places on Earth. Now did this mama raise her boy right or what?

That was devastating, Jane. They don’t look like they think they can win. And I always remember the old adage, “Whether you think you can or you think you can’t, you’re right”. They must come up with a more positive approach – I know they’re exhausted but all the ML teams have played the same number of games. The Orioles crushed Toronto – clearly they THINK they can win.

The Giants start the NFL season tonight – its going to be difficult to convince my husband to watch The Yankees but I kind of understand. In honor of both teams, and to try to give them luck by changing it up a little…GO NEW YORK!!!

  5. Uncle Mike says:

As bad as it is… If you had told me on Opening Day that the Yankees would be tied for first place on September 5, I would have taken it.

  6. Jane Heller says:

I like Uncle Mike’s take. If we’re not in first place at the end of the month, then I’ll worry. Lots of good things can happen between now and then, as YankeeCase said. They do look awful right now and the games are hard to watch but I can’t look away just yet.

  7. Leo says:

I’ve been on hiatus mostly due to work but also partially because I had not many nice things to say about the team. I’m going to take the RAB blog approach and just look at the remaining games left as a fresh start as if they were playing at the beginning of the season again. Just with 27 games left. The time is now for them to play good baseball again and as Yankee Case said, they are still in control of their destiny. They need to make the most of the series left against the rivals and win the majority of the games

I love the optimistic comments here. I’ve been losing my mind. I forgot what it’s like to score runs. A Janer is from the long ago past. I miss winning. I hope we an hold on because I almost forgot this kind of fun!

  9. Jane Heller says:

I miss Janers too, Barbara, but we’re close to getting a nice win tonight. (No jinx)
