Today was the Bad Bullpen Show!

Not that Hughes didn’t end up with a figurative black eye. He seemed to be coasting until his homerun-itis condition kicked in. Baseball is a simple game, really, and when a pitcher throws a ball right down the middle of the plate he’ll get creamed. I wish Hughes could figure that out.
But the Yankees were still within rallying distance until the bullpen brigade came in to mess things up. Particularly galling was Derek Lowe walking in a run with the bases loaded. All hell broke loose after that, and no matter who Girardi brought in the result was baaad. So many arms, so little effectiveness.
The offense? Still sleeping. Dickerson was such a breath of fresh air with his hitting as well as his amazing catches. He wasn’t enough to wake up the slumbering Yankees. I congratulate the Orioles though for outplaying us. They’re not a fluke, it’s clear.
Now it’s off to that nightmare known as the Trop. Can’t wait.

We need to get our offense awakened REAL soon or this could be a repeat of Boston’s collapse last year.
Don’t mean to be a Debbie Downer but I’m operating on 4 hours’ sleep and the loss today just made me grumpier. I’ll try to find the good things. We are still in first place, that’s good. Jeter is still his usual Captain-ish self, that’s good.
Come on, guys. Let’s win a few in Tampa. That’ll make us all feel better…

Ugh. I’m tired of losing… And the sloppy wins when we actually win! Something needs to change… There’s not much else to say. Hanging on by a thread is right.
I’m in the Tampa Bay area and I usually look forward to the boys coming to town, but I’m a little on edge about this series. The team needs to step it up. The coaches too. They are the freakin New York Yankees!! Let’s mow down these teams, especially the Rays on their turf. We never seem to be able to play particularly well at the Trop, it’s time to change that.
Are you going to any of the games at the Trop, Jade? If so, knock some sense into our team, please! We need all the help we can get.
With the series in Tampa and heading to Baltimore at the weekend, this is looking like the proverbial “sink or swim” week for all the actors in the AL East, our beloved Yankees included. It’s time for all involved to make their move. Let’s see who does, and, who doesn’t. I’m hopeful, but tense.

I’m going to try and make it to Wednesdays game. I was watching at home this afternoon and I thought once we got those runs in the 4th that we were back in business… Boy was I wrong. I am at a loss.
