OK, it wasn’t my idea to photo-shop AJ’s face on that body, but when I did a google search for “Yankees bust” that’s the pic that came up. Pretty funny.
What’s not funny is how the Yankees are playing. I checked in on the game this afternoon during my lunch break and nearly lost my appetite.
- Three errors and numerous misplays.
- A non-ace-like outing by CC.
- More failure with RISP.
- Having to use Joba in a big situation instead of a pressure-less one.
- Not beating a last place team like the Jays in today’s game, let alone the series.
So what now?
I know, I know. We turn the page. I just don’t like the way the pages have been turning lately. I get that there are injuries, but the Yanks need to pick it up (Hello, Cano?) if they intend to win the division. If you’d told me we’d be worrying about the Orioles in September, I’d have laughed. I’m not laughing now.

I said it before and I’ll it again…Andrew Jones is still useless. Two easy catches and still he didn’t get it. Frustrating.
Everything went wrong today from CC to Joba. Hell the whole lineup. I’m worried now and I only hope that the Rays and O’s lose at this point. Crossing fingers.
Well, the O’s lost tonight, SBlue, so that’s something…
It was not fun watching them play like a minor league team yesterday. We left after the 8th inning. I’m so glad I didn’t see the 9th.
Ugh. Hope we get things straightened out in September. We can’t be losing series down the stretch against the O’s and Rays when we play them.
I thought that was Harrison Ford in drag for a sec.
I’m guessing that would be Dolly Parton, other than the face. Pretty funny.
What’s not funny is our team, Jane. I know we’ve had our ups and downs…pretty much like almost every team has every season — 162 is a lot of games. But this loss was the first time that I thought we are folding and would not make the post season. Obviously I hope I’m wrong, but a lot is going to have to change for them to turn things around and it has to happen fast. Let’s all hope for the best. I won’t end my note with the usual since they’re not playing tonight.
Sorry you had to be there for that one, Freya.
No, we can’t, Sean.
LOL, Chika. Harrison Ford? Really?
I agree, Diane. The bod has to be Dolly’s. I think you’re wrong about the postseason though. We’ll get there, but the division title isn’t looking as good as it did and we could be forced into the wild card mess. Now that would be scary.
ow. Ow. OW…
These are really starting to hurt. Hard to argue with any of the viewpoints today. All I can offer, in any kind of optimism, is that there’s a day to regroup, because it’s all right in front of them.
All those games head-to-head with the two main challengers. On paper, this year’s history is not too good. It’s hard to be too optimistic. But remember — every win is worth 2 games — puts that challenger back as it promotes the Yanks forward.
Tampa has been there, but they’ve had plenty of changes. And the O’s have not. Let’s see what they have. Barry Larkin, bless him, thinks that Our Boys still have the edge, and will prevail. Always did like that guy…
Last night was a very poor showing. Andruw jones has done nothing positive lately.
Is it just me or does Steve Pearce look like the love child of Russell Martin and Jason nix? Or maybe Martin and Jim leyritz?

I suddenly like Barry Larkin a lot, Dave!
Someone else mentioned Pearce’s resemblance to Martin the other day, Melissa. I just hope he can help us. I’m sure he never expected to be batting cleanup on the Yankees.
