Of course it doesn’t. I wish the Yankees could win every game. But I posed the question because someone asked me that today. I said, “Not only doesn’t it get boring, but each victory is sweet in its own way.”
In today’s game, for instance, we had lightning and thunder, as well as an impressive performance by Kuroda, Cano’s extension of his streak and continued hot hitting by Tex – plus what could have been an awful injury to the Jays’ third baseman as he literally flung his body over the railing to try to catch Tex’s foul ball. (I winced with every replay.)
I do wonder how long the boys can keep this up, but for the moment it’s a lot of fun.
On to the west coast and the trip I won’t be writing much about until the day after the games. Now that I’m on east coast time and have no intention of staying up until the wee hours, I’ll be reading the recaps along with everyone else. I’m a she-fan but not a glutton for punishment.

I didn’t get to see that rail jump until after work, but it looked pretty damn scary! My cousin was texting me, asking, “How many more times are they going to show the replay of this guy falling over the railing?” I immediately started thinking some poor fan fell from an upper deck! Luckily this kid will seemingly be alright. But it looked brutal!
Speaking of the East Coast… Any plans for a Yankee game when they come back? Don’t know if I missed any conversations about a get-together.
Keep winning… it never gets boring… and keep all OUR guys healthy. That’s all I want.
They did show the replays 1,000 times and from every angle, YankeeCase. I’m glad he’s OK too, but it looked in the moment as if he had to have broken his leg at the very least. No plans for a game this trip. Just too many things on my plate and July seems to be going fast. I liked coming in August when I had the Labor Day weekend tacked on. Of course I’ll seriously consider coming back for the World Series. :)
It would be nice to see Joba come back healthy this season, Sean, not to mention Mo.
Interesting theme considering the local guy on our ESPN station, who came on during the rain delay, was complaining the Yankees are now boring because they always win and they’re always ahead. I totally disagree, though I did not bother to call in and express my opinion (they don’t seem interested in having women comment on air, I’ve noticed. ESPN is a radio man cave). For one thing, until this Toronto series the Yankees have not always been ahead nor started every game with a bunch of runs. The Angels series was very exciting with the total runs scored being 19 to 18 – pretty freakin’ close. And the Yankees did not win every game, obviously. Plus, as Jane said, there are so many side events taking place and being tracked, like Robbie’s hitting streak and Jeter passing great players on the all-time hits list on a regular basis. We’ve got to keep an eye on our pitchers and assess those situation – in other words, we Yankee fans are far too busy to be bored!
Well said, Audrey. As far as I’m concerned, every game is a drama in and of itself.
Lawrie’s injury was very scary to watch — just saw the game in encore — glad he ended up not being severely injured. I don’t ever consider a Yankees W boring, Jane, and the benefit of the encore game is that you don’t have to watch it if it is a loss. Anyway, what IS the story with Nix? Someone mentioned yesterday that he never smiles. He’s had a couple of great games in this last series, but he still looks so worried and intense. Maybe he should room with Swisher while they’re on the road. LOL. Anyway, I hope they got a decent flight out of NY to get to the west coast at a reasonable hour. I think they are playing 13 games in a row with no rest day…that sounds exhausting. GO YANKEES!!!
Melissa made the observation about Nix, Diane, and it was so true. I love your idea that he should spend more time with Swisher. Maybe that would do the trick. I hope their flight wasn’t delayed by weather. There were some pretty crazy storms late yesterday. We came home to a power outage, but it’s back now.
Since you are still on the east coast Jane I want you to be informed of significant but probably unnoticed news from New England.
Big Y Supermarkets, a big Red Sox Nation sponsor, made an interesting statement in their weekly sale circular this week.
Historically, except for 2 times I can recall, they have cleared their inventory of “Fenway Franks” in September. This week they are offering the tube mush for “buy one get one free” with no customer limit. Its mid July! Need I say more?
Always there to keep you informed.
Good to know, John. I just might be at the Big Y in New Milford later today!
When Lawrie flipped over the railing, it looked as if he was able to partially break the acceleration of his fall by gripping the railing and hanging on slightly. Good thing. Don’t understand why those camera wells have to be SO deep, esp. when they border on the field itself. Imagine if that was a Yankee…
Tex’s reaction was replayed almost as much as Lawrie’s flip. It must have been hard to complete his at-bat after seeing something like that.
I agree about Tex’s reaction, Dave. He looked terrified.
Jane, we are on the same wavelength again. During the game last night I thought to myself “this should be boring, but it isn’t!” nice, stress free win.
As for lawrie, that was frightening, and I kept wondering why the guy in the light blue shirt didn’t dart forward and try to break his fall. I was pretty surprised to hear lawrie was not seriously injured.
And yes, let’s set up a jayson nix smile watch. Wonder how long he’ll go without cracking one.
I love the idea of a Nix smile watch, Melissa. Maybe he doesn’t smile because his name is Nix and he’s “nixing” everything in his mind? Lol.
