I was watching the game until Rapada came in – had to leave to go to dinner and a concert – and found out later we lost. Bummer.
But not a surprise after the start from Kuroda. Talk about Jekyll and Hyde. He was bad the first time out, then great, now bad again. The name of this team so far, except for Jeter, is inconsistency.
Well, and the bullpen has been good for the most part.
Anyhow, tell me what I missed.
That one was agonizing. We were close but just a whisker behind the whole game and never could *quite* catch up.
Well, at least Boston lost again. They didn’t get dismantled this time but they did lose.
Texas looks very scary. They should have won it all last year, the Cardinals got ridiculously lucky in Game 6, and this Texas team looks BETTER. Not looking forward to having to take them out in the playoffs. But for now, I’ll just take it one game at a time.
If we lose tomorrow though I’ll have to break out my other favorite romatic comedy, Eating Out, to keep from punching something. i already had to watch But I’m A Cheerleader to keep on an even keel after the opening [ugh] 3 games of the season. Well, hopefully we can salvage a split.
You didn’t miss much, Jane… Jeter’s home run in the ninth and a sliver of hope of tying the game at the end? Sigh.
Oh, just read Gardner was placed on the DL for his elbow injury. Great. *sarcasm*
Hopefully not for long, YankeeCase. His speed, defense and timely hitting will be needed over the long haul.
*bangs head against wall*
[repeats under breath "it's a marathon, not a sprint" 10 times] OK, I’m calm now.
Just wish Minnesota in general and Morneau in particular could have waited another four days to come alive. We’re supposed to own them, especially at the stadium.
Jeter is incredible. What’s he batting for the season so far, .500? It’s got to be close. I’ll go look it up. No, he’s at .389 (Nunez is at .400) but his OPS is 1.089. I love that he’s leading the team in homeruns! Who’d a thunk it?
Being a Twins fan also, I am glad the M & M boys are coming back, but I agree with Audrey, they could have waited a few more days.
So, Jeter shoulda retired a couple years ago? Idiots. We’ve always had faith in our Captain. I love that he has 4 TIMES as many homers as A-Rod! I know it’s early and that’s not really as awesome as it sounds, but I will take it. I do hope A-Rod can get going here very soon…
Now, boys, let’s win tonight and carry that momentum into the weekend!!
Go Yankees!
Thanks for filling me in, everybody.
While I was watching, Sean K, it did look as if we’d catch up. We were just a run short – so frustrating. I never look too far ahead so I’m not worrying about Texas yet. We need to take the finale against the Twins first. (One game at a time, as you said.)
Gardner’s on the DL, YankeeCase? I haven’t read anything about it yet this morning. (I come here first!) Is it related to that catch he made the night before? Ugh. Or, should I say, Ack.
Jeter is incredible, Audrey. Who could have predicted such a hot start? He’s got his contract. He has nothing to prove. He must be having a great time right now except that he hates when the Yanks lose, no matter how good his personal stats are. Maybe the break up with Minka has freed him up!
Can you tell those Twins to roll over just for this last game, DJ? I’d really appreciate it.
I’ll work on the Twins for tonight. We need it more than they do at this point.
Did Jeet and Minka break up AGAIN? I thought they were back together over New Year’s. Don’t have time to keep up with all that “news” (gossip). Yours is one of the two blogs I take time to read most every day. Thanks for your info, humor, and great sense of Yankee She-Fans (and He-Fans) community. It’s nice to converse with those who feel the same way. Some days to celebrate; some days to commiserate. Here’s to more celebration days…
Go Yankees!!
Jeter and Minka did have that rendezvous in Paris over the holidays, DJ, but now she’s supposedly seeing Valderama or whatever his name is (Britney Spears’ former flame). But I’m not exactly in the know. LOL. Always happy to converse with you too!
I’m so happy for Jete. He deserves a great start, and I just hope it can continue, and wouldn’t it be great if he had his best season ever??!! I’m so tired of hearing about his being overrated, and his lack of range (how ’bout that great dive-in-the-shift play up the middle he made against…what, the Angels?) He is, no matter what his stats or range are, truly in a class by himself! Cheers to the Captain!
