The Yankees’ Field Trip Tomorrow

February 28th, 2012 by Jane Heller

Am I wrong or does Girardi usually wait until later in spring training to take the team on an afternoon outing, away from the ballpark? Anyhow, apparently this year’s outing is scheduled for tomorrow. I love the idea of these events, which give the guys a chance to bond with old friends as well as make new ones.

  • Who will Jeter pal around with now that Jorge is gone?
  • Who will Nova pal around with now that AJ is gone?
  • How will all the players handle their aches and pains now that Gene Monahan is gone?

Questions, so many questions. The truth is, Cano got along just fine when Melky was gone, so I think everybody will survive their losses by forging new friendships and associations.

The bigger question is where is Girardi taking the boys? What’s the ideal venue for team building?

Some suggestions, all of which practically guarantee that no one will get injured.

1) A day spa. Nothing says “togetherness” like a mud mask.

2) The shoe department at Saks. There’s one in Tampa’s Westshore Plaza not far from Steinbrenner Field.

3) A group psychic reading. They could learn all each other’s secrets in only a few hours.

4) A pole dancing club. An excellent way to stay limber and prove they’re willing to do whatever it takes to be a team player.

5) A bakery. Where else can they practice pie throwing to see who’ll take over the job from AJ?

Okay, I’m out. I hope the Yanks have fun wherever they go tomorrow afternoon.

    Ahahaha funny post, Jane! :D
I wonder if CC could do the pole dancing thing without actually breaking it LOL
    Have a nice day! :)

  2. Jane Heller says:

Yeah, CC would probably break the pole, Paul, and we wouldn’t want him crashing to the floor in a heap. So maybe he’d be safer with the mud mask.

Hmm. I’m sure pole dancing would be a popular choice among the guys, although they themselves would not be doing the dancing. There are an awful lot of those kind of places around Tampa, ya know? ;-)

I remember that about Tampa, Sue. Lots of those clubs for sure. And they’ve probably been to every one. Haha.

The guy in the spa pic looks a little like AJ. LOL :)

Somebody said the same thing to me on Twitter, Bern, and it’s true! I didn’t realize it when I posted the pic. Haha.
