Tough Luck

If I were AJ Burnett, I’d be saying, “How come my teammates score so many runs for CC but not for me?”

Not that he didn’t make mistakes in tonight’s loss to the O’s; those home run meatballs were his responsibility. But four runs isn’t a huge deficit for a team like the Yankees to make up and he did have all those strikeouts. He deserved better.

Especially against the Orioles. How many times have we faced Guthrie now? And suddenly he’s Cy Young?

I hope Gardner didn’t hurt his hand smashing the bat on the ground after he killed the rally in the ninth. Ouch.

A-Rod, if you can hear me, please come back soon. This lineup needs you. A lot.

I really like A.J. and I also think he deserved better. He did a good job and I was supporting him as loud as I could. ;) But tonight wasn’t the Yanks night. Maybe it’s the damn rain delays… But in the 8th I really had fun in my section. There was this kid and he started chanting “Let’s go Yankees, let’s go.” And he was just going on the whole time until the whole section started clapping between his chants. But he didn’t realize that and we started laughing and continued clapping. At one point Jeter and Chavez were looking up to check what’s going on ’cause we were really loud. ;) Then a foul ball landed 2 rows in front of the kid and we made the guy who caught the ball giving it to the kid. It was so much fun and we got really loud in the 9th, too bad it didn’t help anymore. But maybe tomorrow… :)

I too was at last night’s game and I agree that A.J. deserved better. It sounds like you had a lot of fun Nadine. We were hoping for a bigger ninth inning rally. Oh well…

Nadine, you must be wondering if it rains during every Yankee game! Seems to me you’ve been through a rain delay in almost every game since you got to NY. Hope today will have better weather. Interactions with other fans can be such a positive aspect to being at the ballpark (they can be negative too, but we won’t go into that). The kid really got everybody going and then got a ball! Sweet. Keep on cheering. We need some wins.

So you sat through the rain delay too, Freya. I wish there had been a happy ending for us in the ninth – it felt like it was possible – but Martin and Gardner killed it. Ugh.
