That was my view today as I took an afternoon walk. Gone was the fog that we’ve had forever. No worries about “carmageddon” since I didn’t have to get to LA for any reason. And best of all, CC Sabathia is a Yankee.
Seriously, how lucky are we to have him come to our rescue time and time again and pick the team up after a loss or two? He’s about as dependable as it gets and deserves every penny the Yankees pay him. (Well, it’s not my millions so I can be generous.) He had an All-Star break just like everybody else, but aside from some first inning shakiness he looked like he didn’t miss a beat.
Nice day for Gardner, Jeter got more hits, Cervelli showed some life and Swisher had a pulse.
Nunez? Yup. Another error for Eduardo Scissorhands. I know he knocks in runs, but I continue to miss you know who.
Mo made us sweat a little in the 9th but got the save. Is there any way we could have him and CC pitch every day? That would really work for me.

I loved, loved, loved yesterday’s game. Of course Nunez committed an error – wouldn’t we be surprised if he didn’t. As long as he keeps it under 3 errors per game, we’ll be ok (LOL)!
Now that Jeter has his 3K hits, any news on the getting married to Minka front?
Go Yankees and Go USA Women’s Soccer team in today’s World Cup finals!
Beautiful view, Jane – so glad both you and the Yankees came out of the fog. This is the second weekend in a row of gorgeous weather here in the northeast and a win today will make it even prettier. Yesterday’s game was fun to listen to but today let’s have a Yankee runfest. I need variety in my baseball and after yesterday’s run here, run there game a blowout would work for me. In fact, I would love it if the Yanks had a ten-run lead by 2:45 so I could switch to the world cup game without worries.
I haven’t read about any marriage news for Jeter, Kathleen. But did you really think he was waiting for 3k hits to propose to her? LOL He’s so private they could already be married for all we know. Maybe the forthcoming HBO documentary will reveal something on that front.
I heard the weather’s been gorgeous back east, Audrey, and I just hope I get some of that when I come next month. I’d like a Yankees runfest today too, not only because I love blowouts but because I’d like Hughes to get plenty of run support so he can relax and have a good outing. We really need him to improve and be the kind of pitcher that had shown so much promise.
I was just talking to a buddy yesterday about how close C.C. was to signing out west when he was a free agent, how he turned down a handsome offer from the Brewers too to be a Yankee. Y’all got a good deal!
I thank my lucky stars every day that he decided to go with the Yankees, Jeff. He had other options but he picked the pinstripes.
