If you watched the press conference today, you heard Andy Pettitte talk about how he’ll coach his kids and spend time with the family and take his wife on a couple of summer vacations. But you also heard him say this:
“As a man, you wanna work.”
So let’s see. What might Andy do with his life once he decides it’s time to punch a clock again? He mentioned how he likes having a structure and a schedule. We know he’s an affable sort who gets along with people. We also know he’s not about money, although not many guys his age have enough to live on for the rest of their lives. And he’s very into his faith. Herewith some suggestions for him:
1) Bible Salesman
This was an easy call, since he used to advertise the Bible on TV when he first came to the Yankees.
2) Reality Show Star
If Sarah Palin can kill a moose for The Learning Channel, Andy can show everybody how to hunt deer on the YES Network.
3) Yankees Pitching Coach
Well? Why not? At some point his kids will be grown and he’ll be itching to hit the road again.
4) Yankees Scout
Okay, so maybe he won’t want to travel anymore. He can recruit talent for us in Texas and environs.
5) Yankees Starting Pitcher in 2012
A girl can dream, can’t she? He did say “Never say never” in today’s press conference.
