On a Roll

May 13, 2018

The Yankees dropped the opener in this weekend’s series against the A’s, but they came roaring back in games 2 and 3. Game 2, especially, was a thrilling affair with Walker’s walk-off single in the 11th inning and all the drama that led up to it. (Chapman’s inning was especially nerve-wracking.) Today was more of a long, drawn-out contest because of the rain delay. With the Yanks scoring early and Severino on the mound, the game had an air of inevitability about it; I felt the win was likely. But Stanton’s 4-for-4 day was a nice touch. I’ve been waiting for him to heat up and maybe today was the beginning.

After tomorrow’s off-day, the boys will play the Nationals in D.C. Oh, the irony. I haven’t been to D.C. in years, but will be there on Tuesday and Wednesday for business – the same days they’ll be in town. I hope my mere presence in the vicinity will bring them luck.

I had to work all weekend so glancing at my phone was the extent of my live game viewing on Saturday and Sunday but that was enough to boost my mood, especially Neil Walker’s walk-off single. The Yankees are just so much fun to follow right now since they almost always find ways to win and everyone contributes over the course of a few games. I love this team!

Sorry you had to miss the games, Audrey, but it sounds like you felt the mood after Saturday’s big win. It’ll be so interesting how the boys do against Scherzer on Wednesday, though rain is in the forecast in DC.

You know things are going the Yanks way, when they get rained out and they regain sole possession of first place by just simply being idle!

My kind of season – no stress, just success.

The roll just continues, Jane. Another great series win against a team that we should beat. The most encouraging thing was Gray yesterday. He pitched a solid 8 innings and only 1 ER and mixed his pitches well to keep the Royals guessing. More of this please. The offense did its job over the weekend and surprisingly the unconventional lineup yesterday gave us a Janer. More Janet’s as well please!

Oops stupid iPhone autocorrect. Meant to say Janers but of course you got the idea. Janers are always the best wins (provided the pitching doesn’t cough one up to the opponent of course)!

Great start by Sonny, Leo. I was really encouraged. He works so well with Romine and I hope they can keep rocking it. Side note: I’m in the middle of a move from CT to FL so no blogging for a few days for me!
