Wow. Two back-to-back wins in extras over the Royals. I’m impressed.
I wasn’t feeling so great after losing that last game to the Orioles. Ditto: the first game to the Royals. But the Yanks came out of KC with another series win and drew a tiny bit closer to the second Wild Card spot. I’ll take it.
Gary Sanchez’s bat seems to have cooled off (how could it not), but others have picked up the slack. Castro has been a beast lately and Didi continues to be an offensive weapon for us. McCann has lifted his game. Ellsbury too. And Tanaka and Cessa were great the past couple of nights. It’s Pineda who’s always a question mark.
After today’s off day, it’s back to work against the O’s, this time at Camden Yards where the homers will be flying out. I hope they’re our homers, not theirs, and by the end of the weekend we’re right where we need to be in the playoff race.
Those last two games were exciting, Jane. Castro was great. I laughed at Michael Kaye’s reference to “Castro vs. Kennedy” back in the 70’s. Too funny. Anyway, things are definitely looking up although its hard to predict continued positive results. We’ll see what happens. The roster grow now and its good for them to have a day off today. GO YANKEES!!!
I missed Michael Kay’s comment, Diane, but he comes out with funny stuff at times. He and O’Neill are my favorite of the broadcast teams.

Ah, you used a pic from one of my girls’ favorite childhood movies, Jane. Excellent choice!
I went to bed after the top pf the tenth last night and tossed and turned all night. I was sure the Yankees couldn’t pull off two extra innings wins in a row. How happy I was to check my phone this morning and be wrong. Same score, too – too funny!
This team is unpredictable but exciting (maybe they are exciting because they are unpredictable?). It is wonderful to have hope and to know that, even if it doesn’t happen this year, next year is looking very, very good.
Thanks for keeping up the blog, Jane. I always read, though lately I’m a little late to the party sometimes. Our extended family health concerns continue and have distracted me a bit from baseball but I hope they are settling down now and we will all be able to enjoy the rest of the season and, especially, the post-season.
I loved “Hocus Pocus,” Audrey, and was always surprised that it wasn’t a hit. Anyway, I’m sorry to hear there have been health concerns. They obviously come first. As for the Yanks, I think the revamped team is exciting because there’s actually an expectation of winning now. I didn’t feel that way before. (And you’re welcome for the blog. I love hearing from you whenever you do leave a comment!)
