The Yanks Celebrated A Happy 4th

July 4, 2013

FireworksAnimated

The sweep was sweet. I didn’t see the game, as I was enjoying the holiday with my family, but I read enough about it to know that that the offense was there, Phelps bounced back from his disastrous last start and we won again.

Now it’ll get tough again against the O’s. I sure hope there’s a carryover from the series in Minny.

Happy 4th Jane and everyone. Here’s hoping that the offense is just as explosive as the fireworks.

Also a little comedic reading from the Captain, in case you get bored.

I love that blog with “Jeter’s diary,” SBlue! Very funny. Thanks for sharing it.

Yes — thanks, SBlue! That WAS fun to read…

Glad you got to enjoy the holiday with family, Jane. As you know, I’m about to depart for a long trip to Canada, starting tomorrow with a flight to Bangor, ME to meet up with Sis and her family. It’s just me from my family, my wife still picking up the pieces from her own mom’s demise and funeral, and now cleaning out her house for rental.

The Maritimes’ weather won’t be too great — highs in the 70s, lows in the 50s and a lot of rain. But we’re not there for sunshine, and I’m sick of heat & humidity anyway. Been working on my half of the eulogy for Tuesday; couldn’t make it thru my dad’s without losing it, so it’ll happen again for my mom’s, “J’en suis sur.” But there will be 16 family members who’ll be there to share, on that tiny little island in the Bay of Fundy. Baseball? Only 3 of ’em care at all; two are Bosox fans, and all 3 hate the Yanks. C’est la vie, eh? We’re all so used to that, aren’t we; my cell phone won’t work, but hopefully I can sneak a peek at your blog at least once or twice.

Have a great family visit yourself — hope it’s already been good — and safe journey home. I won’t come back until the 15th, and let’s hope by then that our boyz have remained very much in it…a demain, mon amie…

I hope the eulogy and all the rest go well, Dave. Safe travels.
