I went from a cute, quiet cottage in rural Connecticut to a gigantic resort with airplanes flying overhead, thanks to Hurricane f@#king Irene. (I know. It could be worse.) Like so many others, we were hit hard by the storm, and until power is restored I don’t know when we’re going back to the house. Maybe later today. Maybe tomorrow. Maybe the day after. Since our vacation ends on Labor Day we’re running out of time on the east coast, so please, Connecticut Light and Power Company, put our electricity and phone and Internet service back on, so we can enjoy at least a little of this trip!!!!!!!!!!!!!
As for the Yanks, we sat in the car in the dark and listened to games in Baltimore. The last two have been fun. The first two not so much. But at least there’s a teeny tiny winning streak heading into Boston.
I honestly don’t know what to expect from this series. I wish A-Rod were healthy. I wish Jeter’s knee hadn’t swelled up. I wish Tex would hit with consistency (memo to him: they’re going to throw you off-speed stuff so be ready for it!). I hope Granderson, Cano and Swisher brought their hot bats. And here’s what else I hope:
- AJ has a miraculous turnaround and throws a no-hitter. (OK, how about a shutout.)
- Beckett, Lester and Lackey were disoriented by Hurricane Irene and can’t find the strike zone.
- Jacoby Ellsbury can’t find his lucky bat.
- Ditto: the rest of them.
Leave comments and I’ll answer when I can. Go Yanks.
